Pakistan Innings Highlights
In Christchurch, New Zealand’s bowlers Kyle Jamieson and Jacob Duffy performed brilliantly and made it very difficult for Pakistan’s batters to score runs. Kyle Jamieson, who was playing after almost two years, made an instant impact by getting Mohammad Haris out in the very first over of the match.
Debutant Hasan Nawaz also fell quickly, caught at third man off Duffy’s bowling. Both Pakistani openers were dismissed for zero. Jamieson continued his lethal spell, getting Irfan Khan caught behind, reducing Pakistan to 1/3—their third-lowest score for three wickets in T20I history.
Tim Robinson then took a stunning catch to dismiss Shadab Khan, reminiscent of Glenn Phillips’ fielding brilliance. By the end of the powerplay, Pakistan had slumped to 14/4 in Pakistan vs New Zealand 1st T20I.
Captain Salman Ali Agha and Khushdil Shah tried to stabilize the innings. Agha played a reverse sweep off Ish Sodhi for four, while Khushdil smashed a six over mid-wicket in the same over.
In the next over, Khushdil Shah tried to fight back by hitting two boundaries in a row off Michael Bracewell. But this fight didn’t last long. Agha Salman was caught while trying a reverse sweep shot, and Khushdil was also dismissed at point while attempting an aggressive shot. Pakistan’s batting collapsed to 64/6 in the Pakistan vs New Zealand 1st T20I.
After that, the lower-order batters like Abdul Samad and Jahandad Khan also couldn’t score much. They both got out while trying to hit big shots. In the end, Jacob Duffy took the final two wickets and ended Pakistan’s innings.
Pakistan finished with a total of just 91 runs which is the fourth-lowest team score ever recorded in New Zealand.
Pakistan, aiming to test a new combination by dropping senior players Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, struggled badly. Unfortunately, their plan backfired as they collapsed to just 91 runs, marking their fifth-lowest total in T20I history.
